The Gold Series Advantage is the balance achieved between comfort, noise
attenuation and purity of sound. No compromises. No excuses.
Natural replication of amplified sound.
Real
audiophiles understand that for purity of sound an analog sound system
is superior to a digital sound system, however, digital systems can
correct imperfections or enhance and modify sound better than analog
systems. Most active hearing protectors or stereo headphones employ one
technology or the other. Our engineers at Pro-Ears were not willing to
compromise the quality of our sound for the sake of simplicity or
cost. The result is the hybrid digital/analog system found exclusively
in the Gold Series active hearing protectors.
To further enhance
the natural sound quality we use gold connectors and high quality
amplifiers and microphones to reduce impedance. Our proprietary
software reduces interference caused by wind while enhancing the sounds
you want to hear. Advancements to our exclusive DLSC™ technology for
compression turn an impulse sound wave from a gunshot into a soft,
audible pop. Finely engineered circuitry with proprietary programming
has reduced attack time to
1.5 milliseconds. We provide adjustable gain control so you can adjust
the industry leading sound
amplification to match your situational needs.
Two are better than one. Most
electronic hearing protectors are controlled by a single circuit board.
One circuit board may cost less and be lighter weight than two boards,
but when it comes to sound quality, it is a compromise Pro-Ears is not
willing to make. A circuit board in each cup means no wires to get hung
up as you are getting into your tree stand. In a rough situation where
your ear muffs get banged around or dropped, one damaged circuit board
will not knock out your whole system. The ability to adjust each cup to
match your personal hearing profile is part of the competitive
advantage.
So comfortable you
won't mind wearing these earmuffs all day. There is an
unavoidable trade off in designing earmuffs between compression of the
headband and noise attenuation. Sound pressure waves penetrate hearing
protectors through the cup, ear cushion and any gap separating the
cushion and the surface of your head. One way to reduce gaps is to
tightly squeeze the cups to your head. The problem with this approach
is that the tighter the squeeze, the greater the headache. This is
particularly true if the ear cushion does not balance the resistance and
compensate for the headband compression, which causes the hard cup
material to press against your head. Most people only wear uncomfortable
earmuffs for short periods of time, and as a result their hearing is at
greater risk. Our designers have found a method to reduce the gaps and
increase the effectiveness of the ear cushions. Our use of
visco-elastic foams and exclusive Pro Form™ leather in our ear cushion
provides an optimum balance of noise attenuation and resistance to
headband compression. Before you buy your earmuffs you should squeeze
the ear cushions. If they compress easily or if they are made of vinyl
(think sweat) you should think about how long-term wear will feel. We
believe our ear cushions not only perform great but feel good too. Once
you try our ear muffs we think you will agree.
Our reliability gives you the confidence to
be your best. The ability to focus is essential for top
performance. Fear of equipment failure takes away from your focus.
That is why we take pride in being the first company to install an 8 bit microprocessor that
runs continuous diagnostics on all critical components and ensure your
earmuffs are in top working order. An LED light tucked into the ear
muff informs you your system is working. An audible low battery alert
gives you plenty of warning that you need to change your battery before
it fails. Military grade circuit boards are used to reduce failure due
to handling and the elements. The auto shut-off feature extends
battery life so when you need it you can count on power. We believe in
our American made product so much, we have provided the longest, most
comprehensive warranty in the industry. We can afford to back up our
product with a generous warranty because so few Pro-Ears fail.
Independently tested and certified. Wearing Pro-Ears can help ensure
you will be your best.

Review from aircraft mechanic
I apologize for not getting back to you faster on the gold series headset. Getting to the headset, using them in Anchorage, AK was great. The mic did not cut out when the aircraft taxied into position with the high noise levels. It was nice to have the volume control to turn down and up. This was handy when communicating with the ground crew and pilots. The only thing of concern was, the mic position on the head set. With the volume up all the way, my heavy parka collar would hit the mic and make noise, also when turning head. The head set function well in the cold weather. The decibels with the mic on were great. But please keep in mind, I have been working in aviation for almost 20 years and do have high frequency hearing loss in both ears. I would think with some testing, like high frequency turbine engine noise, to make sure of decibel levels, that this would do well in the aviation market. I do not see to many products like this advertised for aviation specific applications.
If you have any further questions that I could help out with please, feel free to call me.
Thank you

When only the best will do
I purchased my first pair well over a year ago. They were the best I have ever tried (borrowed other brands to test) or used. I had a slight problem and Shannon in Customer Service was right on top of everything and made sure I was taken care of. I have since purchased another pair for my wife. This will end the questionable look I get from her on the range when I am talking to her and she wore her other muffs.
I have used these in classes all over the U.S. as well as when I shoot IDPA. There is still nothing out there that can touch them as far as comfort, how fast and well they clamp and release, and amplify to hear the necessary commands given.
My wife recently attended the 4 day Front Sight pistol training course. While there, one of her fellow students had a set of the Gold Pro Mag NRR33. He couldn't say enough good things about them and allowed her to try them. She was amazed at the performance and quality of the product. Based on her description, I knew this was the brand we wanted to replace the sets we had. I decided on the Tac version because of the availability of the 123a battery. I currently have several devices that use the 123a battery (Davis wireless weather station, range finder, night vision device) and having to only look for one type of odd battery is enough. I wanted the 33 rating because I've already lost about as much hearing ability as I can stand. When most hearing protection only offers a 25 or lower, the 33 was a must for me.
When I started shopping around the site, I saw Pro Ears also offers repair kits (replacement parts). That had not occurred to me. I had not seen replacement parts for hearing protection anywhere else. The idea that I can keep the same set for years is going to save me lots of money in the long run and as the dollar buys less and less, making it go farther becomes most important.
Of special note, I noticed in reviews of other brands of hearing protection, battery replacement was often listed as "difficult". Some even reported "almost impossible". You will find that battery replacement with the Pro Ears Gold is simple and quick.
This set also came with the wire to connect your Mp3 player. Another bonus I hadn't counted on. Now I can use this hearing protection while operating my tractor. If you've ever driven a tractor for long, you understand just how dull that is. Using a radio is not really an option - either you have to have the volume so high it disturbs the neighbors or the radio breaks from bouncing around.
With my other hearing protection, loud noises made the circuitry just cut out (go dead), then come back on after a brief period. If you have ever used an auto-darkening welding mask, you get the idea. With the Pro Ears Gold, you hear the sound (doesn't cut out) but at a greatly reduced volume. At the range, being able to hear "Cease Fire!" could save someone's life - or keep you from getting kicked off the range for not following range commands.
My wife and I are well pleased with this product.
Great Product, Excellent Customer Service
Hello Mr. R*****,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, as well as Ms. Forist, and Mr. McCort for successfully resolving the issue I had with my Pro-Ears Gold electronic ear muffs. Please consider me a very satisfied (and future repeat) customer. The manner in which my concern was handled was 100% professional in all respects and I definitely intend to pass that information along to my circle of shooting acquaintances as well as include it in product reviews on various websites that sell Pro-Ears ear muffs. .
As it turns out, my ear muffs were not at all defective; I simply purchased the wrong model for my application. I purchased the Stalker model Pro-Ears Gold ear muffs but the majority of my pistol shooting is done at indoor ranges. As it turned out, the 25db attenuation level of these ear muffs was insufficient to be comfortable in that environment. Mr. McCort contacted me after I sent my ear muffs back and during our conversation explained that I would likely be more satisfied with the Pro-Ears Pro Mag Gold ear muffs with a higher NRR of 33. He offered to swap my Stalker model ear muffs with the Pro Mag Gold ear muffs, to which I agreed and am very glad I did.
Since receiving the Pro-Ears Pro Mag Gold ear muffs, I’ve used them on three separate occasions at the indoor range I frequent most, and they work perfectly in that environment. The attenuation is quite sufficient, the response time is outstanding, and they are very comfortable, even for extended shooting sessions. I couldn’t be more pleased.
I sincerely appreciate the assistance of everyone involved, and I hope you’ll pass along my thanks,
Respectfully,
Bill Ward
Allen, TX.
Since I have received my order, I wear a pair of Pro Mag Gold series
every Sundays at the shooting range.
This place is very busy at this time, of the year, due to hunting season. Here, in Canada, a lot of people shoots with muzzle breaks. So, the fire lane is very noisy. No better trial conditions. I am professional gunsmith since 25 years, and, I tried ( and hated, some times...) a lot of electronic ear muffs: but, sincerely, I never wore one so comfortable and efficient. I am very impressed by the electronic board: the ''cut and release'' time is very, very short.
So short that I feel absolutely no ''click'' or ''pump'' effect.
In fact, I feel ...no effect! It seemed to me that everybody shoots 22LR!!! (Except the blast....of course.) Excellent , really.
